Let’s face it outsourcing isn’t an easy subject. Many think that those are American jobs going over sees. Others say it’s a win win scenario where we are not only gaining from it but boosting the economy of third world countries as well. I believe that yes, there are some problems with outsourcing but in whole it’s a good thing. Thomas Friedman, three time Pulitzer prize winner and foreign affairs columnist for the New York Times agrees with me on the idea that outsourcing is good in the long run. He wrote a column titled “What Goes Around Comes Around” which proclaims that outsourcing, though controversial, will benefit both developing and developed countries in the long run.
There are two sides to the argument: Americans are losing their jobs to outsourcing and developing countries are seeing increased prosperity. Many Americans believe that outsourcing is ruining America because there will be no more jobs. They are right in the fact that they are losing some jobs. But they don’t seem to realize that in countries like India the outsourcing is increasing their countries market and US MNC’s are extremely prevalent in these areas. So in the words of Thomas Friedman “What goes around comes around.” America as a whole is profiting immensely from outsourcing and developing countries are gaining ground. I think that instead of proclaiming “THEY TOOK ARE JOBS” some Americans who feel threatened about outsourcing should pick up another skill and find another job.

Some of these people who should "pick up another skill and find another job" have been working for these companies for 30 yrs. It is not so easy to switch to another career when you are 50 years old and have been doing the same job for all that time. I know that not all outsourced jobs are from this category, but some would say that the governments in those developing countries should invest their own money and build their own corporations to employ their own people. Many of the jobs that are outsourced are limited in pay and the employees have no chance to work their way up the company ladder. And the multinational corporations that give them the jobs could just as easily move to another country in a few years. Globalization is a very complicated thing, and I think if it were my job that got sent overseas I would probably be upset too.
